Houston Computer Museum Research Center

The main function of the HCM Research Center is to initiate, conduct, and support original historical research on the development of the computer industry as well as on the technological, economic, social, and cultural impact of computer technology on society.

The HCM's collection is available to anyone for the purpose of research.  In some cases, the use of hardware artifacts is restricted due to the age and fragile technical condition of these objects.  For research purposes the collection objects are non-circulating and must be consulted on the premises only.

Please contact HCM to schedule a research visit.  The current space and hardware access limitations require that you schedule an advance visit with us.  Email us at info@houstoncomputermuseum.org.

HCM also provides off-site research services that include the search of the museum's collection for specific objects and documents as well as photocopying or scanning documents in full compliance with worldwide copyright laws.  These services do not grant copyrights to publish the requested archival materials.  Ultimate responsibility for the publication of such materials,  in any media, rests with the author and/or publisher.  We will also consult with other museums and computer collectors worldwide to answer your request.  There are fees involved for some of the services performed by the museum staff.

Online research of the HCM's collection is limited at this time as only a partial catalog of our collection is online.  The full information about HCM's collection as well as an up-to-date catalog of objects in the HCM collection will be available online in the near future.  We are are looking for volunteers to help catalog our various collections.
